Throughout December church was full of children and parents and friends at school Carol Services: Rishworth School, Ryburn Valley High School, Ripponden J & I School and Ripponden Preschool. In late November, timed to coincide with switching on the Christmas lights in the village, a short carol service was very well attended – standing room only. It was a delight to, once again, welcome a very well-behaved donkey to the service.

The Lady Chapel was decorated for Advent and, at the Nativity service, each member of the congregation hung their own star above the Crib.

In January, the annual Epiphany Supper was held in the community centre. Unfortunately, due to the weather, several people had to forgo their pie and pea supper, followed by a choice of delicious sweets and the fascinating power point presentation by Jackie Thompson on her Escape from Alcatraz
