Easter 2015 and the Flood

On Palm Sunday, we joined Stones Methodists for Communion before processing down the hill (in the rain) behind the cross, to finish the service at St Bart’s.  A well-attended workshop for local school  children took place on Good Friday in the community centre and church was busy on Easter Sunday with many visitors.  The 100 club was drawn and the results were: 1. 34  S Spencer. 2. 22 J Hotson, 3. 8 J Wood. We are getting used to the extra space now that the reordering of the west end of church has begun and some pews have been removed.  In … Read more…

Autumn 2014

Early September brought a beautiful day for Rushbearing.   All went to plan and the church grounds were packed with visitors, dancers, musicians and, inevitably, the church fund-raising team – £1000 was raised for general funds.  Our thanks go to all who visited us and to those who helped in any way to make the day the success it was.   The day closed with the annual Songs of Praise service. The previous week there had been a very successful visit by a U3A group from Stockport who were made very welcome with a talk and refreshments. On 14 September … Read more…

January 2013

After another busy year of fund-raising and social events at St Bart’s in 2012, culminating in the successful 3rd winter market on 8 December, the year has got off to a delayed start due to snow.  Last Saturday, 19 January, we reluctantly postponed the Epiphany Supper due to the weather.  It will now be held on 9 February. The 100 Club now has nearly 70 members so the first draw can be made in February, once all the standing orders and cheques have been processed.  New members are still welcome – the idea is to have 100 members but the … Read more…

Heritage Sunday – 9 September 2012

32 adults and 6 children visited the church between 11.30 am and 5 .0 pm   We had visitors from the locality but also visitors from Lytham St Annes, Oldham and Surrey. Visits to the bell tower were very popular and we heard the bells ringing all afternoon. Tea, coffee and home made cakes were served. For the first time we had a Time Line telling us about the local history down one side of the church. Old photographs and documents were on display.

Easter 2012
