It has been announced in all the churches in the Benefice that our Vicar, Rev Chris Wray, is to retire at the end of August with his last service being the Benefice Service on 25 August. We wish him well as he prepares for his retirement and for his new life in Barkisland. We can’t say at this stage how long it will be until a new Vicar is appointed. There will be more on the Interregnum shortly.
The results of this month’s 100 Club are: £100 Kathleen Mazey (33), £50 Stuart Phillips (1), £25 David Ashton (21). Kathleen is the second person to win for a second time though she does have two subscriptions. However, there is nothing to stop the same number winning more than once. We currently have 80 members so the odds are still very good! Whilst it might be a little too early to be thinking of Christmas, just as the sun starts to shine this year, do remember that to be entered for the additional £500 Christmas Draw, you must have paid a minimum of six monthly subscriptions prior to the draw taking place. This means that you will have to join during June (or buy additional subscriptions) if you have not already done so. If you are still wondering about it, now might be a good time. Someone has to win the £500 and it could be someone not yet a subscriber.
We are currently preparing for our Annual Garden Party & Duck Race to be held on 14 July, as well as continuing to make crafts for the Christmas craft fair. Duck numbers are on sale now from any of the Churchwardens. They are just £1 each with prizes of £75, £50 and £25. The race will be longer this year as the fallen tree has been removed (at last) from the River Ryburn.
